The "History" of AHFNY

New York City

Founded in 1960 as the Healthcare Foodservice Administrators Association of Greater New York, our organization now serves as the New York Chapter of our national organization, the Association for Healthcare Foodservice.

Our founder, Jacques Bloch, cemented his place in foodservice history in 1982, when he became the first hospital foodservice director to be honored with the Gold Plate Award from the International Food Manufacturers Association (IFMA). Bloch spent most of his career as the director of food and nutrition at Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx, New York. In 1967 he co-founded one of the two national foodservice associations that merged in 2009 to become Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF).
