AHF-NY 2019 ANNUAL EDUCATION SEMINAR & VENDOR EXHIBITION
Patrick LaMont and the AHFNY Executive Board accomplished their mission on having another successful and informative annual Seminar on June 21, 2019. It was held at the Sheraton LaGuardia Hotel in Flushing, NY and was well attended by both the members and vendors of the organization. The agenda included a wide variety of topics and the vendor exhibitors were given an opportunity to introduce their new products. Everyone at the event left feeling extremely excited about the ongoing growth of the organization and look forward to the upcoming Boat Cruise around NYC at the end of July.

Optimizing nutritional status is a key strategy both in preventing and managing pressure injuries. Adequate nutrition addressing macronutrient and fluid needs and determining appropriate micronutrient supplementation along with routine wound care are important factors in pressure injury prevention and healing.

Four Methods to Make A Puree Diet More Appealing
15 million Americans have been diagnosed with dysphagia. Dysphagia refers to a difficulty swallowing or difficulty passing liquids and/or solids through the mouth to stomach. Though this total number encompasses dysphagia diagnosis overall, based on the new International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative (IDDSI), there are 7 levels and 5 different food textures dysphagia patients may be recommended given their swallowing ability.

Take on this role as a Supervisor of Food and Nutrition and be responsible for all aspects of department operations with a focus on patient food services and purchasing. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Food & Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for meal service delivery to patient care units, ensuring we continue to meet high levels of service excellence, creating an outstanding patient experience. This position is also responsible for purchasing food, supplies, and inventory control. The Food & Nutrition Supervisor will regularly assess food service operations, ensuring practices are in line with hospital policies and health codes and identify opportunities for improvement.
This is a full time, Monday through Friday 6:00 am-2:00 pm and every other weekend Saturday and Sunday, 5:00 am -1:00 pm position.

This is a full time position, hours are 10:30 am- 6:30 pm Monday through Friday and every other weekend Saturday and Sunday.
